Application
Armoslip E is a refined vegetable-based
(rapeseed oil) erucamide with low color (typical at production 90 Pt-Co and low
water content (typical 100 mg/kg).
Armoslip E provides excellent slip
effect and good anti-blocking performance.
When Armoslip E is thoroughly mixed with a polymer it reduces friction
between the polymer and the processing equipment and also between polymer and
polymer surfaces.
Due
to a continuous migration a thin film of Armoslip E is formed on the
surface of the finished product and this provides excellent slip and good
anti-blocking performance. The mechanical and optical properties of the
end-products are not altered significantly.
Armoslip E has a lower volatility and better high
temperature stability than oleamide. This makes it especially useful for
PP film application since it allows higher processing temperatures. The higher
molecular weight of the erucamide causes a reduced migration in comparison to
oleamide, which is beneficial if printing or sealing is carried out directly
after film processing.
Armoslip E can be applied in a wide range of
thermoplastic polymers. The addition level varies from 0.05 to 0.3%
depending on the slip and anti-block effect needed and other additives present
Armoslip E facilitates over-printing and wet-printing
when incorporated into ink formulations. These inks have improved slip
and anti-blocking characteristics, along with better adhesion and resistance to
both scratching and rub-off without undue increase of viscosity.
Armoslip E may be used to improve penetration,
flexibility and slip or seal properties of wax and resin coated paper
and paperboard. Armoslip E also may be used in adhesives, coatings,
closures and EVA copolymers; as defoamer in paper and paperboard manufacturing;
as a dye solubilizer and as surface lubricant in the manufacture of metal
articles.
Armoslip E due to its uniform particle size shows fast
homogenization when mixed with other additives and/or polymers.
Armoslip E is preferred for more demanding applications,
as it offers higher purity and better color stability than the technical
grades.
